Update: Emtee After AKA’s Murder: ‘Me Or Another Young Rapper Are Next’

Rapper Emtee claims he has received death threats from unknown individuals who claim he is the next target.

Following the assassination of fellow rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes on Friday, 10 February, in Durban, musician Emtee — real name Mthembeni Ndevu — wants to beef up his security.

The Roll Up hitmaker revealed to TshisaLIVE that he has received death threats.

In 2015, Emtee and AKA worked together on a remix (or re-up) of the same song.

EMTEE SAYS HE’S RECEIVED DEATH THREATS

During his interview, Emtee told TshisaLIVE that he or another young rapper will be next.

“They started with DJ Sumbody, now AKA. Word on the streets is that either me or {another young rapper} are next. I received a message from this mysterious figure. I blocked him first time now he’s using another number,” he was quoted as saying.

In November last year, amapiano pioneer and businessman Oupa John “DJ Sumbody” Sefoka was gunned down in Pretoria. Two months later and in the same city, bacardi king Itumeleng “Vusi Ma R5” Mosoeu was also gunned down.

According to Emtee, he received death threats after DJ Sumbody’s murder. The Manado rapper revealed that he has been receiving threats for two years.

“People want to extort me for money I don’t have. After DJ Sumbody died, I got a message saying; ‘You are next’. I’ve been getting death threats for the past 2 years,” he said.

The publication reports that Emtee also shared a screenshot of messages he was getting from unknown numbers on WhatsApp.

“You think you’re smart. I won’t leave a tiny stone unturned,” read one of the text messages.

When asked if he has reported the threats to the police, he said: “I always do but you know cops are useless.”

Two days after AKA’s brutal murder, Emtee took to Twitter to share that he is looking for security or body guards.
